button button we've got a button.

many thanks to our friend, rachel, for pointing out that we could have a button for people's blogs. she's rather genius that way. however, being rather un-tech savvy, I have no clue whatsoever how to make this button into a link. if anyone has some insight into that and would like to share it, please email! in the meantime, here's a button, and we hope you can add it to your blogs. thanks very much!

in stitches.

not only is our girl in stitches, but so is this amazing vintage piece from Magpie Musing...

Teresa continues to heal and, true to her nature, feels frustrated by her inability to just get up and go again! When we chatted yesterday, she was on her way out the door for a walk. Her battle scars are beginning to heal, and she's woken up without pain for three days in a row. Rumor has it she's even showing off her stitches to the cute UPS man...

about the raffle.

We've had a few questions about how the raffle will work: will there be tickets? do I have to be online to win? how do I buy chances to win? Is there a fee?

Easy, breezy answers!
  • This is a virtual "raffle" and there won't be any tickets. Instead, there will be comments!
  • The items donated by the Contributors (in the righthand menu), will be divvied into four separate prize packages.
  • Each prize package will be raffled on a different date: May 3, May 5, May 7, and May 9.
  • Four packages gives more people an opportunity to win!
  • On the dates listed, visit this blog to "see" all the prizes available for that day. All items shown on one date will be that day's prize pack - in other words, one person will win ALL the items for that day.
  • To enter the drawing, leave a comment AND donate $5 per comment. Multiple comments are encouraged, just make sure to donate $5 per comment! For instance, if you want to have 5 chances to win, donate $25 AND comment 5 times. And you are certainly allowed to enter to win on all four days!
  • To donate, use the button to your right. Make sure you include your blog name in the notes so we can match your comment to your donation!
  • If you've already contributed to the Healing Maggie Grace fund, you simply need to comment on the prize packages you'd like to win! You don't need to donate again.
  • Each prize package will be available for a little over 24 hours. When the raffle closes, we will post a note.
  • We will then ensure that all the comments and donations match up, then we'll use a random number generator to select a winner for that day's prize package!
  • Winners will be posted on the blog and will also be contacted via email.
  • ALL the money from the raffles will go directly to Teresa. No hidden fees, no maintenance costs, no strings attached. Teresa is our friend, and we want to help defray the costs of her surgery and care.
  • If you have additional questions, please email us!

She's kind of a scrappy superstar, isn't she? Think gift certificate. Swooning yet?

gown about town

Well, we should've known it, but we can scarcely believe it: not only can wonder woman sit and stand, but she can also walk and facebook and text and crack a few jokes about her hospital gown attire. Rumor has it that she might even go home. TODAY. Miraculous, that one.

because this is what you do.

Last week I found out one of my dear blogging friends and fellow artist Teresa of Maggie Graces Creates has kidney cancer... and has to have her kidney removed... and has a $5000 insurance deductible. She went from thinking she had a kidney stone, making the best of it and joking about it on her Facebook page to this. My heart sank when she told me the news. I felt so helpless clear across the country, with no resources to help. Or so I thought. Then I chatted with my dear friend Mary Ann who knows and loves Teresa like I do, and we came up with a plan.

First and foremost we don't want Teresa to have to worry about the money this operation and treatment is going to cost her and her family. We want Teresa to concentrate on getting better, taking care of herself. So Mary Ann and I have decided to start this blog as a way to help. There are two ways to do that.

Number one is to donate any amount you see fit to a paypal account we have set up for Teresa. The button above will link you to paypal. Any donation is appreciated.

Number Two is during Mother's Day week, Mary Ann and I will be hosting a blog raffle to help raise money for Teresa's medical expenses. We're hoping you can help us with a donation of artwork, a vintage item, a gift certificate to your etsy shop, or even a gift certificate to a retail store like Starbucks or Target. All donations will be divvied up during Mother's Day week and
posted on the blog.

If you choose to this route, we ask three things of you:
1) email us at healingmaggiegrace (at) gmail (dot) com with a picture of your raffle item by April 24th 2) send your raffle item to the winner (winner's address will be emailed to you)
3) spread the word about the raffle and/or donations.

Please spread the word. Link to this blog, post about it, Facebook about it, Tweet about it.
We bloggers know how powerful we are when we come together for a good cause. I can't think of a better one.

If you have any questions at all please contact us.

love and hugs,

jen and mary ann
